Some knots. Some chaff. The lanolin actually softened my hands! When I washed the sweater for the first time noticed that the water seemed fairly *dirty* so I washed the sweater three times, then gave it a couple of good rinses. The dirt isn't from MY house, I haven't had the yarn around that long! When they claim it's right off the sheep, they're not kidding! Now that it's washed, it's much softer & sweet-smelling, quite satisfying. It will take several days to dry, though, because it's so thick.

This yarn is rich in lanolin, so smelled "sheepy." It also felt a little rough while I worked. But once I washed the swatch, it softened up nicely, and the sts. locked in to each other. This is going to be a warm, sturdy sweater-jacket--very nice & thick. I would use this yarn again.

I love this yarn. It's
very sturdy and I
believe will be very
warm. I knitted this
several times in front
of a campfire and due
to the strong smell of
the yarn (lanolin smell
I believe) it didn't
pick up the campfire
smell. The stitch
definition is excellent
and I feel like I got a
good bargain. I do
wish I would have
chosen a bit larger
needles as my cables
were somewhat difficult
at times, but I like
the denseness of the
smaller needle. I've
made a very long scarf
and a purse with this
and am very pleased.

I believe this yarn would be exceptionally suitable for aran sweaters, and thicker outer garments. It has a sturdiness to it over other yarns. The price is reasonable and affordable enough to not break the bank when making a large project. Very quick service from the manufacturer direct, although I also know it's available at some LYS'.

I love this yarn. It is
a more rustic yarn, and
full of lanolin. It
has a smell all its own
- I don't think its
unpleasant, but I could
smell my partially
finished sweater when I
opened my knitting bag.
This yarn has
excellent stitch
definition, and it is
very pleasant to knit
with. The water did
get very dirty when I
washed the sweater, and
the yarn softened up
significantly.

This yarn made a lovely jacket - it knits up firmly, but feels softer than Kureyon. I would use it again. Plus, the price can't be beat - I knitted an entire sweater for 27 dollars US.

Nice hand, no
thick-n-thin, no knots,
quite dense or plump in
texture. Knits up
smoothly with no
splitting or untoward
twisting. With my order
direct from
Bartlettyarns.com I
received samples of
their other yarns and
colors, including a
day-glo orange meant for
hunters.

Exactly the right kind of yarn for a raglan sweater. Actually a bit bulkier than worsted, I'd call it heavy-worsted. I found it difficult getting down to 4 st. per in, going down more than 2 needle sizes to reach gauge. The bit of oiliness is fine for the hands (doesn't dry them out) and I hope will be good when outdoors. Color, charcoal, has a white fleck which is attractive, almost tweedy.
