I found this yarn split a lot. Enough that it made knitting a little difficult. Also there was a lot of guard hairs in this yarn and I didn't find it nearly as soft as other alpaca yarns that I have tried. The yarn is slightly hairy and was a little fuzzy knitted up. I used it in a that had a Celtic Knot cable (a Hayfield design) and the design showed up nicely but I think it might not show off too well a more complicated pattern design.

I really like the completed sweater I made, it's very warm and at the same time light weight. My mother liked the sweater so much she made herself one in teal alpaca. The yarn is not very forgiving so it shows off distorted stitches. Normally my knitting looks pretty even, but it doesn't in this yarn. The yarn is kind of scratchy so I think it needs to be for an outerwear sweater rather than next to the skin. I'm not complimenting this yarn here very much, butI do really like the sweater that I knit from it. I think I am just more partial to sheeps wool, but I did like this yarn and I would knit with it again.
